Terms of Service

Effective date: June 25, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of GeneriQuote, a Discord application that generates quote images from Discord messages and user-provided preview content. "GeneriQuote," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the operator of GeneriQuote: GenericGeorge. "You" and "your" refer to the person or organization using GeneriQuote.

1. Using GeneriQuote

By installing, authorizing, accessing, or using GeneriQuote, you agree to these Terms. If you use GeneriQuote on behalf of a company, server, community, or other organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organization.

You must also comply with all rules that apply to your use of Discord, including Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Developer Terms of Service, Developer Policy, and any rules of the Discord server or space where you use GeneriQuote.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use GeneriQuote.

2. What GeneriQuote Does

GeneriQuote lets Discord users create styled PNG quote images from Discord messages. The current product includes:

• Discord message context menu commands, including "Quote Message" and "Quote Selection."
• Ephemeral Discord responses by default, visible only to the user who ran the command.
• Generated PNG quote images using message text, display names, usernames, avatars, optional image attachments, and optional reply context when Discord makes that information available.
• Quote styling controls, including themes, layouts, avatar treatments, quote marks, accent bars, custom colors, and font choices.
• User quote history features, including history, retrieval, search, random quote, queue status, export, delete, delete-all, and privacy commands.
• Short-lived download and regenerate controls for saved quotes.
• Server configuration scaffolding for defaults, permission policy, and retention settings.
• A web preview endpoint that renders temporary quote previews from user-supplied preview content.

GeneriQuote is not Discord. GeneriQuote is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Discord Inc. Discord controls the Discord platform, accounts, servers, APIs, and client behavior.

3. Eligibility

You may use GeneriQuote only if you are allowed to use Discord and meet the minimum age required by Discord and applicable law in your location. GeneriQuote is not directed to children under 13 or to anyone below the minimum age required to use Discord in their country.

If you are using GeneriQuote as a server owner, administrator, moderator, or other representative of a Discord server, you are responsible for making sure your use of GeneriQuote is permitted by your server's rules and by the permissions granted to you.

4. Discord Account, Installation, and Permissions

GeneriQuote runs through Discord application commands and Discord-provided interaction data. You are responsible for your Discord account, your Discord server permissions, and any activity performed through your account.

When you install or authorize GeneriQuote, Discord may show the permissions, scopes, installation contexts, and command access that apply. Do not use GeneriQuote in any server, direct message, group, or channel where you are not permitted to use it.

Server owners and administrators are responsible for deciding whether GeneriQuote is appropriate for their community. They may remove the app, restrict command usage, or set community rules for generated quotes.

5. Your Content and Other People's Content

"Content" means anything processed through GeneriQuote, including Discord message text, edited quote selections, display names, usernames, avatars, attachments, reply context, preview text, preview image URLs, generated quote images, and related metadata.

You keep whatever rights you have in your Content. GeneriQuote does not claim ownership of the Discord messages, images, names, avatars, or generated quote images you process through the app.

However, by using GeneriQuote, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to access, process, store, reproduce, display, transmit, and create generated images from Content only as needed to operate, secure, maintain, debug, support, and improve GeneriQuote.

You are responsible for making sure you have the rights and permissions needed to quote, transform, download, save, export, share, or otherwise use Content, especially when that Content belongs to someone else.

GeneriQuote can make another person's message look polished and shareable. That does not mean you have permission to publish it outside its original context. Before sharing generated quote images, consider the message author's consent, the privacy of the channel or direct message, server rules, copyright, publicity rights, defamation laws, and other applicable rights.

6. Prohibited Uses

You may not use GeneriQuote to:

• Violate Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Developer Terms of Service, Developer Policy, or any applicable Discord policy.
• Harass, bully, shame, threaten, impersonate, defame, exploit, dox, stalk, or target another person or group.
• Create, preserve, or distribute illegal content, child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate content, sexual content involving minors, graphic violence, extremist content, or content that promotes real-world harm.
• Publish private, sensitive, confidential, or personally identifying information without permission.
• Misrepresent the source, author, date, meaning, or context of a Discord message.
• Use generated quote images to deceive people, manipulate evidence, impersonate another person, or falsely imply endorsement.
• Quote messages from private spaces in ways that violate privacy expectations, server rules, or applicable law.
• Use Content obtained through Discord to profile users, discriminate against people, determine eligibility for employment, housing, credit, insurance, benefits, or similar decisions, or infer sensitive attributes.
• Train, fine-tune, evaluate, or otherwise build machine learning or AI models using message content or other Discord API data obtained through GeneriQuote.
• Scrape, mine, mass collect, sell, license, broker, or commercialize Discord API data or generated datasets.
• Spam commands, abuse the render queue, bypass rate limits, attack the service, interfere with availability, or attempt unauthorized access to GeneriQuote systems.
• Reverse engineer, exploit, or circumvent Discord APIs, Discord client behavior, GeneriQuote controls, download tokens, or security measures.
• Upload, link, or process malware, malicious URLs, credential phishing content, or content designed to compromise systems or accounts.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to GeneriQuote, delete or disable access to saved quotes, and report behavior to Discord or appropriate authorities when we believe these Terms, Discord's rules, or applicable law have been violated.

7. Privacy and Data

GeneriQuote processes Discord interaction data and user-provided preview data only as needed to provide the app's stated functionality.

Depending on configuration and feature use, GeneriQuote may process and store:

• Discord user IDs for quote ownership, configuration, rate limits, and command controls.
• Discord guild IDs and channel IDs for server configuration, policy checks, quote metadata, and queue records.
• Source message IDs, source author user IDs, display names, usernames, quote text, reply text, render inputs, render settings, theme data, attachment metadata, and generated PNG assets for saved quote history.
• Short-lived download and regenerate tokens for quote actions.
• Render job records, rate-limit events, health-check state, logs, and operational diagnostics.
• Temporary preview data submitted through the web preview endpoint.

GeneriQuote provides user-facing export and deletion controls through /quote export, /quote delete, and /quote delete-all. Deletion may be implemented as a soft delete in the database so records are no longer returned through normal user commands and are not publicly visible through GeneriQuote. Backend moderation records, backups, logs, cached files, and operational records may persist for a limited time where reasonably necessary for moderation, security, recovery, abuse prevention, or legal compliance.

Generated quote download links use expiring tokens. Treat any download link you share as capable of being accessed by whoever receives it until it expires or is disabled. Generated images that you download or repost are controlled by you and by the platform where you share them.

The Privacy Policy describes GeneriQuote's data handling in more detail. If there is a conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy about personal data handling, the Privacy Policy controls for that issue.

8. Quote History, Downloads, and Deletion

Saved quote history is private to the Discord user account that generated the quote unless a future feature explicitly changes visibility and you choose to use it. Public quote pages are currently disabled by default and reserved for a future explicit-sharing release.

GeneriQuote may store generated quote PNG assets locally or through another configured storage provider. Quote history, generated assets, download links, and regenerate links may be unavailable, expire, be deleted, or fail due to retention settings, hosting limits, storage problems, database problems, Discord API changes, or service maintenance.

You are responsible for keeping your own copies of generated images you want to preserve. GeneriQuote is not an archival service.

9. Server Settings and Community Controls

GeneriQuote includes server-level configuration features for defaults, allowed channels, admin roles, public-posting policy flags, personal override policy, and retention policy settings. Some server features may be scaffolds, incomplete, disabled, or reserved for future releases.

Server owners and administrators are responsible for configuring GeneriQuote appropriately for their community and for communicating any server-specific rules to members. GeneriQuote does not replace server moderation, server consent rules, or Discord's own enforcement systems.

10. Reporting Problems and Abuse

To report bugs, abuse, policy violations, privacy issues, copyright concerns, or other problems involving GeneriQuote, contact us at contact@genericgeorge.com.

You can also report Discord content, accounts, servers, or applications to Discord through Discord's in-product reporting tools or Discord's support/reporting channels.

When we receive a report, we may review relevant records, restrict access, remove saved content, preserve evidence where legally required, notify affected users where appropriate, or report issues to Discord or law enforcement.

11. Availability, Rate Limits, and Changes

GeneriQuote is provided on an "as available" basis. Rendering, downloads, history, configuration, queue status, and previews may be delayed, unavailable, interrupted, rate-limited, or changed without notice.

GeneriQuote may limit render concurrency, queue length, user request rates, guild request rates, file sizes, preview request bodies, token lifetimes, or other usage to protect reliability and prevent abuse.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of GeneriQuote at any time, including commands, themes, layouts, history features, server settings, public-sharing features, storage behavior, and support channels.

12. Fees and Paid Features

GeneriQuote is currently provided without paid features unless otherwise stated. If paid features are introduced, additional terms may apply. Any monetization offered through Discord must comply with Discord's applicable monetization, developer, and platform requirements.

13. Third-Party Services

GeneriQuote depends on Discord and may depend on hosting providers, database providers, storage providers, uptime monitors, package dependencies, and other third-party services. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, their policies, or their handling of data outside our control.

Your use of Discord remains governed by Discord's terms and policies. Discord may change APIs, permissions, installation behavior, interaction responses, command behavior, rate limits, application review requirements, or enforcement decisions in ways that affect GeneriQuote.

14. Intellectual Property

GeneriQuote's code, design, branding, generated templates, renderer behavior, website, documentation, and related materials are owned by us or licensed to us, except for third-party materials and user Content.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use GeneriQuote for its intended purpose through Discord and any official GeneriQuote web preview or support surfaces.

You may not copy, modify, sell, sublicense, host, rebrand, or commercially exploit GeneriQuote or its branding except as permitted by the applicable open-source license for any published source code or by written permission from us.

Discord names, logos, API names, and platform features belong to Discord or its licensors.

15. Feedback

If you send suggestions, ideas, bug reports, feature requests, theme ideas, or other feedback, you grant us permission to use that feedback without restriction, attribution, or compensation, while you keep any rights you may have in the underlying feedback.

16. Disclaimers

GeneriQuote is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, or reliability.

We do not guarantee that generated quote images will be accurate, complete, available, legally usable, accepted by any community, free from rendering errors, or suitable for your intended purpose.

We do not endorse, verify, moderate, or assume responsibility for Content processed through GeneriQuote or for generated quote images shared by users.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GeneriQuote and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, service interruption, device or system damage, or unauthorized access arising from or related to GeneriQuote.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from or related to GeneriQuote will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us to use GeneriQuote in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers or limitations of liability. In those jurisdictions, the limitations apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.

18. Indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GeneriQuote, its operator, maintainers, service providers, and representatives from and against claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from or related to:

• Your use or misuse of GeneriQuote.
• Your Content or generated quote images.
• Your violation of these Terms, Discord's rules, another platform's rules, or applicable law.
• Your violation of another person's rights, including privacy, publicity, copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.
• Your administration, configuration, or moderation of a Discord server using GeneriQuote.

19. Termination

You may stop using GeneriQuote at any time by removing the app from your account or server where Discord allows removal, and by using available deletion controls for saved quote records.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to GeneriQuote at any time if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk for the service or others, used GeneriQuote abusively, caused legal exposure, or if Discord requires or recommends enforcement.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including sections about Content, privacy and data where applicable, intellectual property, feedback, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute terms.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be effective when posted or otherwise made available, unless a later effective date is stated.

Your continued use of GeneriQuote after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, stop using GeneriQuote.

21. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [governing law jurisdiction], excluding conflict-of-law rules.

Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or GeneriQuote will be resolved in the courts located in [venue], unless applicable law requires a different forum or unless we adopt a separate arbitration or dispute-resolution process in a later version of these Terms.
